Digital Presence We define digital presence as the process and associated deliverables of creating an online roadmap to how you want people to experience you. Actively creating your online identity shows people who you are and how you think, which in turn helps them understand how they will experience you. Some people call this personal branding and reputation, and again, this focuses on how you want people to perceive the experience of you.
This process is becoming more and more complicated as the digital landscape becomes more complex as well.
ePortfolios For this reason, within the ecosystem of the digital world, there are different ways to represent your online identity. We encourage people to consider an ePortfolio as part of their digital presence. A portfolio is a purposeful collection of artifacts, together with reflections that represent some aspect of the owner’s learning.By artifacts, we refer to evidence of learning, such as articles and presentations, in a variety of formats such as documents, photos, and other multimedia. Learning can be associated with everything from undergraduate learning to leadership in a professional role. The owner of the portfolio is typically an individual, but can also be a project, program, or institution.Reflections that contextualize the artifacts in a coherent and integrative story within a portfolio are what differentiate this collection from a website, a resume or CV, or a file folder of documents.
Learning Outcomes The process of developing an ePortfolio is a pedagogical approach that also yields multiple learning outcomes, including metacognition, content curation, audience awareness, online identity, self-efficacy, creativity, synthesis, analysis, ability to compose in multiple media and genres, and digital literacy.
The "e" in ePortfolios The added value of the “e” in ePortfolio refers to not just the electronic medium but also around experience, evidence, and engagement (Kehoe, 2015).Increasingly, our work in P2P also aims to address issues related to equity and excellence by providing participants with a platform that allows them to communicate the breadth of their experience and skills before, during, and beyond the point of portfolio creation.
